Our Story

We started singing together in 2013, having some wonderful opportunities to sing in and around the Congregational Church in South Glastonbury. That community got us started in the right way. We come from diverse musical backgrounds: musical theatre, classical music, rock & roll, jazz, folk music, and it has led us all to improvise harmony by listening to each other and honoring the material we work with. We work up an approach to a song, and for us, the laughing is as important as the singing.

Meet the Group

Bill Moses

Tenor, Guitar, Fiddle, Harmonica

I’ve been strumming and singing for most of my life, often with my brother John, the world’s greatest living electric guitarist (he of the Outerspace Band). I try to follow the guidance “less is more” playing guitar with Wait For It; it is a delight to provide a framework for all the different kinds of singing we do. Some of our best ideas for arrangements or material come in rehearsals, preceded by “Let’s try…” or  “What if…” or  “This may be crazy, but…” It is never crazy. It’s why I get up in the morning.

Leslie Bates

Soprano, multi-percussion

Music has enriched my life in many ways. I have sung in choirs since childhood and eventually sought out professional opportunities to sing as a part of quartets, duos, and in musical theater. I especially enjoy making music with Wait for It! The musical and personal dynamic of the group is a joy in my life. We all embrace exploring musical genres, and individually tagging in whenever a member of the group suggests an unexpected, uncommon and sometimes whimsical musical idea! I feel blessed to be a part of Wait for It!.

Anne Marie Colebrook

Alto, multi-percussion

David deMercado

Baritone, multi-percussion, guitar

As a classically trained musician, reading music and live performance was already a part of me. The first rehearsal with Wait For It was both eye and ear-opening as written music is not typically used. I was immediately confronted with a folder of tunes, only a couple that I had ever heard, with no lead sheet or chords to work from. Very quickly I was drawn into a creative process that is as profound and beautiful to me today as the first time I rehearsed.
